Purple Poppy Mallow (Callirhoe involucrata)

Purple Poppy Mallow performs as a ground cover with a low, spreading form covered in saturated flowers. Its vivid magenta, cup shaped blooms appear continuously from early summer into late fall in our gardens. The trailing stems hug the ground but don't aggressively form roots like a lot of spreading plants. Instead it gently weaves between taller perennials and grasses, filling in gaps and creating a more connected, cohesive look. It softens the edges of paths, stones, or hardscaping and helps visually blend individual perennials into a unified planting. It’s especially beautiful spilling over low walls or boulders or planted at the front of a dry, sunny border.
